The Red Light District is situated in the old centre, only a few minutes from the central station. The principal axes are Warmoesstraat, Oudezijds,
Voorburgwal and Oudezijds Achterburgwal. All the small streets perpendicular to these axes are also part of the Red Light District.
Attention : it is forbidden to take photos of the prostitutes in their windows.
The Red Light District is one of the most frequented parts of Amsterdam. The prostitutes who wait behind their windows lit up by a red neon light
(from where it gets its name) and the coffee shops have made this area famous (or infamous). In the heart of the Red Light District, you can discover
the Oude Kerkwhich is the oldest church in Amsterdam (the name means "old church" in dutch), Belle (a statue in homage to the prostitutes), the Amstelkring museum,
the museum of hashish and marijuana, the museum of eroticism...
This district will either scandalize or amuse you depending on your nature...Whatever, the only way to know is to go and have a look !
